Minimally played instruments and field recordings, processed into microsound and noise. Instruments include keyboard, glockenspiel, music box, dulcitone, piano, voice, effect pedals with contact mics. A little obscured guitar.

Field recordings of ice, wind, fire, footsteps and bells captured whilst walking in the Alps during autumn 2021. Some random sounds rediscovered on my dictaphone tape recordings from Nepal 2008.

Label release notes :

Some might know Andy Cartwright as guitar-experimentalist Seabuckthorn (IIKKI, Eilean Rec., LostTribe Sound etc). On ‘Form Less Ness’ Andy steps away from the guitar as the primary focus, but maintains his experimental and abstract approach, continuing the electroacoustic style presented on albums released on labels like Fluid Audio Label.

‘Form Less Ness’ consists of 13 abstract pieces of microsound, ambiances & field recordings processed in different ways, and sometimes beyond recognition from the original sound source. The collection of tracks has an airy and watery quality to them, almost taking shape of sound-installments, balancing on the verge between ambient music and soundart.

WRF creates sounds like not many out there, and each release holds it's own fingerprint, but this one is particularly special in it's more still and minimal nature. Some of this reminds me of Johann Johannsson's finest soundtracks (in particular Movement II) but all of it is pure beauty, and light with interspersed shadows to keep it interesting and multilayered just as the clouds drift overhead and block out the sun for a moment, the rays will beam down again as soon as the shadow passes.
