Lost Tribe Sound Most will know Cartwright by the name Seabuckthorn, typically wielding a variety of guitars. 'Unstill' is a very different look at what rattles around inside his mind. It's a well-crafted sound collage of aged field recordings, dusted tape relics, and kitchen-sink percussive moments. While Cartwright's weapon of choice, the guitar was not even touched for this album, it still carries with it a confidence and the unique sense of movement that we've come expect from him.

I had the urge to find a different creative process and break away from the guitar as my main instrument. After gathering old field recordings I’d captured on my Dictaphone/iPhone whilst travelling, I manipulated them with software and layered synths, various instruments and live radio samples, forming a kind of collage.

Instruments I toyed with include a Guzheng, Tongue Drum, Kalimba, Autoharp, Cymbals, Virtual Synths and Reel to reel tape noise.

Some field recording origins : a Sikkim monastery 2012, walking on snow in Nepalese Himalayas 2008, Tunisian desert 2014, Paris metro 2019, Nuns in Alpine Church 2020.

I took the cover photo in Cairo 2004.

Incredibly atmospheric and eerie music from this multi-instrumentalist composer. Known for his award-winning documentary and narrative film soundtracks, he blends experimental, folk, and contemporary classical into a delectable melange.
